New Year, New Board

Happy New Year! 2018, inudoshi, the year of the dog! I put up all my Christmas cards and nengajō. Great-aunt Ikuyo's lacework makes a final debut!

Thank you everyone for snail-mail and tewatashi cards! I'm old-fashioned in that I like handwritten/homemade the best!

New year, new board! See?
Actually, I only made it vertical because that was the best way to fit all three scenes from yet another of Rina's funny stories!
The Toilet Disaster

Background: in theater class, her director had just finished giving the students a light caution about taking good care of theater equipment. In particular, the new mics needed careful handling.

Everyone gave their assent. Class dismissed. Rina made a short stop at the bathroom on her way out. Everything was going normal. She did her business, flushed, and suddenly...splash! Hm? It almost sounded like something had fallen in the toilet...
Rina whipped around to see something black swirling around the toilet bowl. Something attached to a wire. Her mic!
Rina had only one thought. Don't let it go. She plunged her hand into the toilet.

By some miracle, Rina snatched it before it was gone for good. Shuddering with relief, Rina dashed to the sink with the prize in her hand and washed it. What a close call! Then it dawned on her.
"I just stuck my hand in the TOILET.'"

Epilogue:

I was totally grossed out, but in the end, Rina wasn't too bothered.
"It was a College of the Ozarks toilet. It's clean."
