ROAD TRIP! From Tokyo to Hiroshima

 

Earlier this year, we got a chance to follow the old Tokaido Road,

From artist Hiroshige's series "53 Stops Along the Tokaido Road."

Not on foot, thankfully!

We surpassed the final destination, Kyoto,

and continued on to her daughter's place in Hiroshima.

We over looked the Japan Inland Sea,

ate oyster (kaki)

and shaved ice (kaki-gōri)

visited Itsukushima Shrine

ate conger eel

and momiji manjū

visited the Peter Rabbit exhibit

at the Hiroshima Museum of Arts,

and altogether had a lovely weekend vacation

as family.
